Not a lot has been going on, it’s really starting to hit me that I’m going to be leaving soon. I have already said my goodbyes to the kiddies and Ana and Gina at the ludoteca and got a certificate for volunteering there! :D Jill and I have been going to the beach a lot lately because there’s not much school, just studying for finals and what not! I am already done with 2 classes and will be done with undergrad on Tuesday!
This Saturday we went out with our host moms to a bar to see a flamenco show and eat tapas. It was really fun watching all the moms interact and to see whose moms were friends with whom. Antonia is friends with Olivia’s mom, Molly’s mom, Megan’s mom, and Sierra’s mom! Hahaha they’re funny.

I think what I’m going to miss most about Cádiz is Antonia and Pepe. I liked watching them interact cuz it was cute/funny (except when she was mad at him) and watching her interact with her brothers. I’m also going to miss Vanessa’s puppy Margarita, because it was really cute :3. What I have realized is that I really missed food from home, and I couldn’t wait to come back so I could eat eat eat! But now I’m realizing, that I can eat that stuff whenever I want, and I’m probably going to miss Antonia’s cooking because I’m probably never going to have a home cooked Spanish meal again! T__T My favorite foods they have made are the lentejas, empanadas, croquetas, the fried fish that are NOT boquerones (anchovies yuck!), her tortillas!, and the random fried cheese filled meat things that I would get for dinner, oh! And her patatas fritas because they were so nommy :]. I am also realizing that I’m a giant foodie .__.
Other things that I’m going to miss about Cádiz are the beaches definitely! There are so many shells and sea glass on the beaches which is awesome for crafts and scrapbooking! Friends that I have made in the program and at the UCA, fresh baguettes every day for lunch, queso y jamón at tapas, y también café con leche for 1 euro! Sunshine, Fanta, siesta, how cheap food is at the grocery store, and being able to travel around Europe (and Africa!) so easily.
Things that I’m NOT going to miss would be dog poop everywhere on the streets (and pee -___-), stinky smells that you randomly walk through when you’re going places, so many palomas flying at my face that are out to get me, and not having public bathrooms so I can pee with out having to buy something.
It’s weird that I only have 3 full days left here and then I’ll be on my way back to Seattle. Gotta make the most of them! :D
Confetti Eggs | Oh Happy Day
These confetti eggs are a traditional Easter party item, but I think they would be perfect for New Years Eve! You’re meant to smash them over each other’s heads, so if you decide to use these you might want to have a less fancy bash or at least warn anyone who has copious amounts of gel or hairspray in their hair, or anyone who spent the day at the salon getting their hair done. That’s for guys and girls! Or you could go for something else inside the eggs, like confetti (though that might be hard to get out of hair too!)

So on Saturday we went to el Puerto de Santa María for the day to visit the Rafael Alberti museum and eat fried fish! The museum was interesting because we learned about him in my lit class! It’s really cool seeing all these places where these Spanish authors actually lived and stuff. It’s really cool! We ate a whole bunch of fish and seafoody things. Some of it was good and some of it not so good… I think Antonia makes fried fish better though! :D We rode the boat back home to Cádiz and it was the scariest rockiest boat ride of my LIFE. I’ve never felt like I needed a seatbelt on a boat before… until now..! Poor rita! She’s due next month and was getting so sick! :[
After that, I spent the majority of my weekend writing my 2 comentarios for my lit class. I think that’s the class I’m going to do the best in because I’ve been getting good grades on all my papers! Yea! :D I also had a lengua test today which didn’t seem that bad… but you never know…
Next week I have my lit final, traducción final, and variaciones finals, so I need to study study study! :D
That is all! <3
